Filming locations include Bora-Bora, Tahiti. This was Dayton Ka'ne (Matangi) first of two films, the other being 1981's "Beyond the Reef".
Roman Polanski was the original director for the film, but was replaced after he fled the country.
Singer Anne Murray was offered the Mia Farrow role of Charlotte but declined it due to her music recording schedule.
For it's 1984 network television premire on NBC-TV, 29 minutes were cut from the film so as to fit into a two hour time slot with commercials.
