This Italian-American adventure fantasy film starring former Tarzan actor Gordon Scott was originally intended as a pilot for a Hercules television series.

Cast as a Pirate Captain is Gordon Mitchell, who starred in the sword & sandal classics Atlas Against the Cyclops, Fury of Achilles, and Revenge of the Gladiators.

Also appearing are actors George Ardisson (Hercules in the Haunted World), Roger Browne (The Revenge of Spartacus) and Mario Novelli (The Invincible Brothers Maciste).

The sea monster prop was designed by Italian special effects and makeup artist Carlo Rambaldi (Goliath and the Dragon, Conan the Destroyer).

Beach scenes were filmed on location in Palinuro, Province of Salerno, Campania, Italy.
