Pre-code thriller based on the Sax Rohmer novel of the same name and starring Boris Karloff as Dr. Fu Manchu.

Director Charles Brabin was previously uncredited for his work on 1925's Ben-Hur: A Tale of Christ as he was replaced during filming by Fred Niblo.

In the role of Terrence Granville, actor Charles Starrett would later obtain stardom as "The Durango Kid" in a series of 65 western movies made from 1940-1952.

The cast includes Everett Brown, who would later make screen appearances in Tarzan the Fearless (1933), Tarzan and His Mate (1934) and Tarzan Escapes (1936).

Appearing as "the knife thrower", Steve Clemente would later be cast as a Witch King in the 1933 classics King Kong and Son of Kong.

Filmed at the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Culver City, California.

Steve Clemente passed in 1950 at the age of 67.

Charles Starrett passed in 1986 at the age of 82.
