Orginal German title: Winnetou und Shatterhand im Tal der Toten (Winnetou and Shatterhand in the Valley of the Dead).

This was the last in the series of films based on the Karl May novels, and was basically a remake of the first - The Treasure of Silver Lake (1962).

Starring Lex Barker as Old Shatterhand and Pierre Brice in the role of Winnetou, directed by Harald Reinl (Apache Gold).

The cast also includes Rik Battaglia whose later roles include an uncredited appearance in the 1985 film Amazonia: The Catherince Miles Story (aka: White Slave).

Cast as Red Buffalo, actor Vojislav Govedarica later made appearances in Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985) and Alligator II: The Mutation (1991).

Lex Barker would only make a couple of more films and some television appearances (the last being an episode of Night Gallery) before his death in 1973.

Pierre Brice would later reprise his icon role in the 1980 German television miniseries Mein Freund Winnetou (My friend Winnetou).

The production filmed at the Spandau Studios in West Berlin and on location in Yugoslavia.

Vojislav Govedarica passed in 2023 at the age of 83.

Rik Battaglia passed in 2015 at the age of 88.
